The Addis Ababa Food and Drug Authority Yeka Branch Office held a work review discussion with stakeholders and various block organizations regarding the budget plan and the first quarter plan implementation review.

In his opening speech, Yeka Food and Drug Authority Branch Office Manager Ato Fantahun Tadesse said that since the role of public organizations is great in jointly preventing illegal activities, he conveyed the message that the office should take responsibility for illegal activities that are not within its reach and that are closely monitored and known in your area and work together to protect our own and the health of the community.

During the review session, the directorates of the office presented the main activities carried out in the first quarter of 2018, the measures taken, the problems encountered, the disposal of expired medicines, spoiled food, beverages and materials worth an estimated 15,249,773 birr, and the detailed activities of the 2018 budget year plan.

The participants of the discussion also expressed their opinions that shops in each woreda should be inspected for selling expired packaged foods and soft drinks, that educational measures should be taken against entities and institutions that engage in food inspection and illegal activities, in addition to written warnings and fines, and that a coordinated inspection should be carried out on institutions that distribute bread.

Finally, the office’s management and directorates provided explanations and explanations on issues that require clarification and on the ideas and opinions given.
