The Addis Ababa Food and Drug Authority, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, held an extensive discussion on the results of the study on home health care services with branch food and drug office leaders, investors and experts providing home health care services, and stakeholders on September 30, 2018.
During the discussion, Dr. Hiwet Abebe, a regulatory expert from the Ministry of Health, presented in detail what is the construction of a home health care service building, the licensing of health professionals, home health care activities and equipment, and the overall results of the study.
A consensus was reached through extensive discussion on the presented study and the results obtained and setting the direction for further focus.
Finally, Ato Endalkachew, in line with the focus given by the Ministry of Health, stated that the implementation of the study should be carried out on the ground, that legal home health care institutions should be established according to the standards set, that those who commit violations should take corrective action according to the administrative guidelines, and that the regulatory system should be up-to-date.
Finally, the Director of the Directorate of Health Institutions and Professionals Supervision, Ato Gelgelo Oljira, noted that the authority will carry out activities at all levels based on the study, that action will be taken by identifying illegal activities, and that the institutions will be empowered to operate in accordance with standards.
