The authority has called on the community to help prevent illegal practices based on the law.

27/4/2018

The authority is conducting intensive health inspections to ensure that food products, especially bread and flour products, provided to the community in its branches in 11 sub-cities in the capital are provided in a healthy manner.

The ongoing inspections are focused on bread and flour products manufacturing and sales outlets, supermarkets, 5 shopping malls, and more than 220 Sunday markets, bazaars, and local markets.

During the ongoing inspection, the sale of products exposed to the sun, the widespread sale of products without descriptive text, especially pork products, illegally slaughtered and sold chicken meat, and other products and services that pose a health risk to the community have been detected. Based on the findings, educational and corrective measures are being taken.

Therefore, in addition to the inspection work carried out by the authority to prevent illegal practices in various areas, the authority urges the community to play its part in the inspection.

The user community would like to inform the Addis Ababa Food and Drug Authority that if they report illegal activities in the city by calling the toll-free hotline at 8864, the authority will respond promptly.

In addition, the authority urges the public to report to security agencies individuals who slaughter chickens and meat products that are not hygienic and of unknown quality, and to avoid purchasing meat products that do not have the manufacturer's name and date of manufacture.

Finally, the public should protect themselves from illegal products of unknown origin and quality, and when faced with illegal practices, let's prevent illegality together by calling 8864 toll-free number and contacting local law enforcement agencies.
