Illegal shisha items and contraband products worth over 12,900,960 birr were seized.

The Nifas Selat Food and Drug Office, in coordination with the police, law enforcement agencies, local communities, and peace and security agencies in the city, has been able to remove many illegal shisha items and contraband products that pose a threat to the health and safety of the community through its control and law enforcement work carried out at various times.

As a result, 500 bottles, 650 pipes, 900 cables, 50 plates, 310 electric shisha items, and 450 pipe holders, a total of 4,110 shisha items were seized. In addition, 25,000 products in 500 cartons that were contraband and had no expiration date were removed.

The total estimated value of the illegal products removed is estimated to be 12,900,960 (twelve million nine hundred thousand nine hundred sixty birr).

In this regard, the Office Manager, Ato Shebelaw, stated that the authority will continue to strengthen its control work in coordination with partner institutions to curb the trafficking of illegal tobacco and other products that are dangerous to health. He also called on the public to refrain from using illegal products and activities that are harmful to health, and to promptly report any suspicious illegal activities to the authority and relevant parties.
