The Food and Health Control Directorate held a discussion with the branch directors and team leaders on the regulatory and monitoring work it carries out to protect public health and ensure food safety.
The main purpose of the forum was to review the results of the regulatory work carried out, identify specific gaps, and create a common understanding for implementing future work directions in a coordinated manner.
The discussion focused on the regulatory work carried out on meat shops, the hygiene and sanitation inspections of school meals, the regulatory work carried out on tobacco production and trade, and the work carried out on oil producing institutions.
Speaking at the forum, the Deputy General Manager of the Authority’s Regulatory Sector, Ato Enga Ereketa, outlined the main areas of work that the institution will focus on in the future.
According to Ato Enga, strengthening risk-based supervision, enabling institutions to regulate themselves, continuing to strengthen emergency controls, expanding awareness-raising training, and strengthening organizational procedures are the main areas of the institution’s future.
He also emphasized in his speech that appropriate action cannot be ignored against institutions that violate proclamations, rules, and regulations and pose a threat to public health.
The participants noted that the discussion helped to strengthen common understanding and carry out regulatory work in a coordinated and effective manner.
