The Addis Ababa Food and Drug Authority’s Competency Assurance Sector has been carrying out a variety of competency assurance activities in the past nine months of the 2018 fiscal year to ensure that food, health and health-related institutions provide better services to the community in accordance with the standards.

In the past nine months, 1,863 health institutions and 19,654 food and health-related manufacturers, distributors, retailers and service providers have been certified, 15,834 health professionals have been provided with professional registration and license renewal services, and 1,681 pharmaceutical retail institutions have been certified.

In the past 9 months of the current fiscal year, action has been taken against 79 cases of false information regarding the qualification of health professionals.

That is, 53 cases of false CPD, 14 cases of work experience, 3 cases of COC, 4 cases of professional license, and 5 cases of false information being presented to the legal service, which are the source of corruption, are being taken against and the law is being enforced.

The Authority's Deputy Director General of Qualifications, Ms. Tagist Bedada, conveyed to the branch and cluster leaders that qualification activities should be carried out in a consistent manner, that the Master Facility Database should be developed with attention, that the work of combating theft and corruption and enforcing the law should be institutionalized and strengthened and that we should fight together, that we need to further strengthen the services provided through technology to the lowest level, and that we need to provide services with honesty, integrity and humility in order to run the institution in the future.
