The Food and Drug Authority of Addis Ababa took action against 187 establishments in the monitoring and control work carried out in the 2018 budget year to prevent health problems affecting the community, and was able to remove more than 3 million birr worth of spoiled and expired products.
During the budget year, the office conducted inspections and control work for 950 food and health-related establishments, 161 health institutions, and took action against 187 establishments.
In addition, in order to protect the health of the community, it was possible to prevent health problems that could affect the community by removing spoiled and expired food, beverages and medicines worth an estimated 3,193,370 birr during the fiscal year.
The office's monitoring and supervision work has also helped health institutions overcome their problems and come up to standards, and has helped institution owners change their mindsets, and has worked closely with the office to create model institutions that provide services while maintaining standards.
