Campaigns continue to expose deceptive tobacco tactics to reduce tobacco use

Campaigns are being carried out citywide to expose the hidden and deceptive tactics used by the industry to increase tobacco addiction and reduce its use.
In this regard, the Lideta Branch Office is working on strategies to reduce tobacco addiction under the theme “Unmasking the Appeal: Countering Nicotine and Tobacco Addiction” to raise awareness among youth, women’s organizations, and stakeholders about the deceptive tactics used by tobacco and nicotine products to attract young people, especially those who are addicted to tobacco.
In order to prevent the significant social and economic harm caused by tobacco, efforts are being made to prevent youth and women from falling into tobacco and nicotine addiction and to raise awareness of the deceptive and hidden methods used by the tobacco industry to protect themselves.
The General Manager of the branch office, Ato Belay Qarnchafu, stated that efforts are being made to reduce the vulnerability of the youth by understanding the methods used by the industry to increase tobacco addiction in the community.
He also indicated that various regulatory activities are being carried out in food establishments and places where tobacco exposure is high.
The branch office is committed to expanding community-wide tobacco prevention efforts in the coming months to create a city free from tobacco smoke. For the effectiveness of the work, youth are urged to protect themselves from addiction and participate as a regulatory body in the illegal tobacco trade and use, and parents are urged to strictly monitor their children to prevent them from being exposed to various addictions.
