The Addis Ababa Food and Medicine Authority is working to fully digitalize its services and strengthen a transparent, efficient, and technology-supported service delivery system, as outlined in its 90-day plan. In this regard, the Authority held a joint discussion with directors from the Competency and Inspection departments, as well as cluster team leaders, concerning the plan to expand and reinforce digitalization efforts across its central office, branches, and clusters.

According to the 90-day plan, the Authority intends to carry out a campaign to digitalize establishments located at the central level, across 11 branches, and within 36 *woredas* (districts). The initiative targets a total of 12,550 establishments, with the workload divided equally—50 percent under the Competency Certification sector and 50 percent under the Inspection sector. Furthermore, the plan aims to increase the proportion of establishments integrated into the system from the current 15 percent to 75 percent. Mr. Solomon Gebre-Egziabher, Deputy Manager of the Competency Sector, stated that fully modernizing the sector’s operations through technology is crucial for ensuring service quality, transparency, and efficiency. He emphasized that the implementation of digitalization must be carried out consistently and strengthened across all organizational levels, from top to bottom.

Furthermore, he provided direction for all leadership and professional staff within the sector to work with coordination and accountability to ensure the successful execution of the 90-day plan. He underscored the necessity of building upon ongoing initiatives to deliver high-quality, modern services that meet the needs of service users.
