Addis Ababa Food and Drug Authority, Lideta Branch Office, conducted extensive awareness raising activities in private and public schools in line with the World No Tobacco Day, which is being celebrated for the 39th time globally and for the 34th time in our country under the theme "Let's expose the ways to nicotine and tobacco addiction!"
Lideta Food and Drug Authority, Ato Belayneh Gebru, the Chief of Staff of the Lideta Food and Drug Authority, said that the tobacco industry is making great efforts to attract young people to addiction by using new hidden methods and that they should be careful, and that students should realize that smoking tobacco is not a sign of modernity and should protect themselves from tobacco smoke and any addiction.
The office has also provided extensive awareness-raising education in private and public schools in the city, focusing on the hidden strategies used by the tobacco industry to lure youth into addiction, the health hazards caused by tobacco, and how to prevent students from becoming vulnerable to addiction.
