The Authority reviewed the implementation of the 6-month plan with the branch office and cluster heads.

In addition to ensuring and supervising the capacity of institutions, the Authority is also carrying out product quality and medical equipment safety inspections, and is working on a variety of activities to prevent the community from various infectious and non-infectious food-borne diseases, provide quality health and health-related services, and provide proven medicines.

Therefore, the report states that during the 6-month review period, the following findings were found during the inspection: operating a food and health-related facility without health certification, possessing illegal food products, possessing expired products, lack of hygiene, violating the tobacco ban, providing substandard services, and so on. Based on the findings, 674 written warnings, 108 temporary closures, cancellation of the licenses of 3 establishments, and fines were imposed on 20 establishments that were involved in food and health-related manufacturing, distribution, and sales, and food service establishments.

In addition to the corrective measures taken based on the food and health-related findings, food, beverages, health-related products, and tobacco products worth more than 37,770,807 birr that were endangering the health of the community were removed.

In the first half of the year, action was taken against 158 ​​institutions that were found to be providing substandard services to health institutions and their owners. Based on the findings, 9958.02 kg of expired medicines worth an estimated 13,894,497.51 birr were removed.

In terms of ensuring efficiency, 1846 medicine and traditional medicine institutions were certified, and 85 health institutions were self-audited.
