The Addis Ababa Food and Drug Authority, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office, provided orientation training to branch food and health directorates and cluster experts on data collection for government and private daycare centers in our city.

In her opening speech, the Authority’s Deputy Director General of the Competency Assurance Sector, Ms. Tagist Bedada, said that it is the initiative of the Honorable Mayor to ensure that daycare centers in our city are clean and meet the standards. She emphasized that data collection and clarification work is being carried out to ensure that government and private daycare centers in our city provide services according to the standards and to clearly identify their numbers, and that we all should take responsibility and carry out data collection work with determination.

Dr. Abebe Negesso, the Child Care Manager from the Mayor's Office, explained why special attention should be paid to childhood in order to ensure that children are intellectually developed, creative, have better language and social skills, and develop well-rounded children from birth to six years old, and why childcare should be a priority.

Finally, Ato Alemu Nebebe, the Dash Board and Data Manager from the Mayor's Office, provided detailed training on how and in what manner online data from childcare centers in our city would be collected and sent.
