The authority has expanded the accessibility of services provided by the Health Professionals Qualification Certification Center and provided training to professionals employed in the Addis Mesob One Center.

Addis Ababa Food and Drug Authority is working on a digital government service to provide the new professional license, renewal and upgrade services provided by the Health Institutions and Professionals Qualification Certification Directorate to the Addis Mesob One Center in order to expand the accessibility and update the service.

To provide the service, a theoretical and practical training was provided to professionals employed in the Addis Mesob One Center on the registration of health professionals and professional licensing administration and supervision guidelines, as well as general procedures from February 2-6.

The head of the Authority’s Health Institutions and Professionals Qualification Team, Ato Guesh Arefaine, said that in order to modernize service delivery and expand accessibility, and provide streamlined services to users, a theoretical and practical training was provided to newly recruited professionals in collaboration with the Authority’s Information Technology Directorate regarding the services that will be included in the new digital government service.

He explained that the training mainly focused on the professional designation and required skills of health professionals, the professional designation that a professional can be given, the required skills and designation for each designation and education level, as well as the importance of the directive, scope of application, health profession registration, professional work licensing, and various provisions regarding the licensing of health professionals.

He also indicated that detailed training was provided on the issues that must be met for issuing a new professional license and for renewal.

Finally, Ato Guesh said that health professionals can fill out their online application and receive new professional licenses, renewals, and upgrade services at the Authority's office or at the new center in Arada District, using the options provided.
