Kolfee Branch Office Conducts Law-Based Training for Inspectors

The Addis Ababa Food and Medicine Authority (AAFM) Kolfee Branch Office has organized a training session for regulatory inspectors to ensure that inspection activities are carried out legally, professionally, and with accountability.

The training, held on February 14, 2026 (Yekatit 6, 2018 E.C.), was based on five key legal frameworks. It provided professional insights into the powers of inspectors, their ethical obligations, and the scope of their legal accountability.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Mebratu Taeme, Director of Service Delivery Monitoring and Support at the Authority. During the session, he emphasized that inspection tasks must be executed with high ethical standards, transparency, and in strict adherence to the law.

The primary objectives of the training include:

  • Strengthening the legal awareness of regulatory inspectors.

  • Ensuring decision-making processes remain within the legal framework.

  • Enabling inspection activities to be performed with full accountability.

It was noted that the training contributes to effective regulatory oversight, a reduction in legal violations, and the strengthening of professional practices. From a public perspective, it serves to protect food safety and public health, enhance trust in the Authority, and ensure fair regulatory services.

Sister Munira Negash, General Manager of the Kolfee Branch Office, stated that the training aims to support and improve inspection activities by enhancing the legal knowledge of experts. She added that this will empower them to fulfill their duties with professional integrity and confirmed that further capacity-building trainings will be provided in the future.
